Development Education
GVC believes that development is a two-way process based on more equitable relationship between the North and the South of the world.
A cause of that, beside to development cooperation programs in developing countries, GVC gives great importance to actions in Italy and Europe seeking a change in public opinion attitude and interest towards development and developing countries problems.
Development education main goal is to stimulate a change into individual and collective mentality and behaviour in order to contribute build up a more equitable and sustainable development model.
Development education is an active learning process, founded on values of solidarity, equality, inclusion and co-operation.
Development education fosters the full participation of all citizens in world-wide poverty eradication, and the fight against exclusion. It seeks to influence more just and sustainable economic, social, environmental, human rights based national and international policies.
GVC conceives development education as a global action concerning instruction, training, information and sensitisation. The projects implemented go from pedagogical interventions in formal education (from primary school to University) to campaigning, from professional training to lobbing and interaction with media, arts and culture.
GVC has been working in the field of education to development and information for years, by promoting awareness raising and education activities addressed to civil society, particularly schools and young. GVC has promoted and tested methodologies for a dynamic and interactive learning and a constructive consideration on development, different cultures, human rights defence and solidarity. In the last years the education to development activities implemented by GVC have focused on young people trying to answer higher and higher qualified and not exploited knowledge needs and detecting a new will of active participation to the world change process.
